Turin by night: how an evening actually works
A Turin evening has a fixed rhythm. Between 18:00 and 21:00 comes aperitivo, a tradition born here with vermouth and still the way the city starts its night: a drink with a buffet or a board in the bars of the Quadrilatero Romano, under the arcades of Piazza Vittorio Veneto or on Piazza Castello. Dinner follows after 21:00, and from 22:00 the flow moves to the bars of San Salvario and Vanchiglia, or down to the river at the Murazzi.
Evening tours slot into this pattern. Most depart between 20:30 and 21:30, last 2–3 hours and end in the middle of the nightlife, often on Piazza Vittorio or at the Gran Madre. From there the illuminated Mole Antonelliana is minutes away and the bars are still open. That is why we suggest booking the tour for your second night in town, with aperitivo before and bars after.
Turin night tours: Torino Magica, Dark Turin and the alternatives
The classic is Torino Magica, the 2.5–3 hour esoteric walk from Piazza Statuto via Piazza Castello to the Gran Madre: 4.6★ from over 1,600 reviews at €35–40* per person. Alternatives in the same spirit are the walk between magic, tarot cards and legends (5.0★ from 31 reviews, €25–35*) and Dark Turin, which tells the story of the Savoy city through its hospitals, epidemics and crimes rather than alchemy and black magic.
If mystery is not your thing there are two other routes. MAU by night takes you to the murals of Borgo Campidoglio, an open-air neighbourhood museum away from the centre, with tickets around €15–25*. Evening food walks pair aperitivo, chocolate and vermouth with a stroll through the Quadrilatero, from €45*. The night-tours category on GetYourGuide starts at €22*, while a private walk with your own start time costs €50–80* per person.
Turin nightlife areas: where the bars are
San Salvario has more venues per square metre than anywhere else in the city: bars, cocktail bars and small clubs around Largo Saluzzo, Via Baretti and Via Saluzzo, a short walk from Porta Nuova station. Vanchiglia, between Via Santa Giulia and Piazza Santa Giulia, is more student-driven and informal. The Quadrilatero Romano, between Via Garibaldi and Porta Palazzo, is the district of smart aperitivo and restaurants, its narrow streets still following the Roman grid.
The Murazzi del Po, the arches below Piazza Vittorio on the riverbank, were for decades the symbol of Turin's night; in recent years they have reopened in phases, so check which venues are active before counting on them. Piazza Vittorio Veneto, one of the largest arcaded squares in Europe, works as the hub: from here you are five minutes from the Gran Madre, the Murazzi and Via Po. For hen parties and large groups, San Salvario and the music bars along Via Nizza are the easiest choice.
Booking a night tour: times, languages and cancellation
Torino Magica runs almost entirely in Italian and sells out autumn weekends days in advance: book as soon as you know your free evening. The tarot-and-legends walk has English dates, while Dark Turin and the MAU walk should be checked voucher in hand. Almost all group walks on GetYourGuide can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before; private tours may set different terms.
Meeting points are central squares, usually Piazza Statuto or Piazza Castello, reachable by metro to Porta Nuova or Porta Susa. With children under 10 the esoteric tours work poorly, both for the hour and the content; a classic walking tour at sunset suits them better. If your interest is what lies beneath the streets, Turin underground is a separate route with daytime and evening slots.
Turin from above at night and the Luci d'Artista
The free viewpoint is Monte dei Cappuccini, a ten-minute uphill walk from the Gran Madre: from the terrace you get the illuminated Mole, the line of bridges over the Po and, on clear evenings, the Alps. The Lungo Po between Ponte Umberto I and Ponte Vittorio Emanuele I is the simplest after-dinner walk and passes below the Murazzi. For the classic night photo of Turin with the Mole, stand in the middle of Piazza Vittorio looking up Via Po.
From late autumn to January the Luci d'Artista, light installations by contemporary artists along Via Roma, Via Po, Piazza Carlina and other streets, transform what an evening tour looks like: this is the period when we recommend combining it with our one-day itinerary. Exact dates change every edition, so check the city council calendar.
Getting back late and how we pick night tours
Metro line 1 closes around midnight on weekdays and later at weekends (check GTT timetables); on Saturday nights the Night Buster buses run. Taxis have fixed ranks at Porta Nuova, Piazza Castello and Piazza Vittorio, and a ride within the centre stays affordable. Between San Salvario, Piazza Vittorio and Piazza Castello you can in any case walk in 15–20 minutes under the arcades.
For night tours we give priority to GetYourGuide, which has the widest Turin catalogue and standard free cancellation; Headout is the fallback when a date is missing. The price bands we quote are observed on partner catalogues and checked regularly, with an asterisk because they vary by date, language and group size: the checkout price always prevails. We are not an operator and do not sell tickets ourselves.

FAQ
Is Turin nightlife any good?
Yes, as long as you expect the right thing. Turin is a city of long aperitivo, bars under the arcades and cocktail bars rather than big clubs. Its strength is density: dozens of venues within walking distance across Quadrilatero, San Salvario and Vanchiglia, and a night out that costs noticeably less than in Milan. On Fridays and Saturdays the streets around Largo Saluzzo and the Murazzi stay busy until late; on weekdays the centre thins out by midnight.
Which is the best area for a night out in Turin?
It depends on the hour. For aperitivo, the Quadrilatero Romano (Via Sant'Agostino, Piazza Emanuele Filiberto) and the arcades of Piazza Vittorio Veneto. After dinner, San Salvario between Largo Saluzzo and Via Baretti for bars and music, Vanchiglia (Via Santa Giulia) for a younger, student crowd. The Murazzi del Po, the historic heart of Turin's night, have reopened in phases over recent years: check what is currently active before heading there.
How much does a Turin night tour cost?
Group walks start from €22* and the best sellers, such as Torino Magica, cost €35–40* per person. Private evening walks start at around €50* per head and get cheaper as the group grows. These are prices observed on partner catalogues and checked regularly; the checkout price always prevails.
Torino Magica or Dark Turin: which should I pick?
Torino Magica is the original, theatrical format with over 1,600 reviews: white and black magic, the Devil's door on Palazzo Trucchi di Levaldigi, the Gran Madre and its legends. Dark Turin switches register to hospitals, epidemics and crimes, so it is history and true crime rather than esoterica. On a first evening in Turin start with Torino Magica; Dark Turin works better as a second tour or if the occult angle does not appeal.
How much is aperitivo in Turin?
A classic aperitivo costs €8–15*: the drink price includes a buffet or a board of local cheese and salumi, a tradition that began here with vermouth. In the Quadrilatero and on Piazza Vittorio the better cocktail bars sit around €10–14*, while bars in San Salvario and Vanchiglia are cheaper. Vermouth was invented in Turin in 1786 by Antonio Benedetto Carpano, so ordering a vermouth on tap is the most local choice you can make.
How do I get back to my hotel late at night?
The metro (line 1) closes around midnight on weekdays and later at weekends: check GTT timetables before you go out. On Saturday nights the GTT Night Buster buses link the centre with the outer districts. Otherwise taxis wait at ranks at Porta Nuova, Piazza Castello and Piazza Vittorio; the centre is compact anyway, and San Salvario to Piazza Castello is a 20-minute walk under the arcades.
What are the Luci d'Artista winter lights?
They are light installations by contemporary artists that take over central streets and squares every winter, roughly from late October or November to January (dates change each edition, so check the city calendar). The period coincides with the Christmas markets and the chocolate season, so an evening tour in those weeks is worth twice as much. Dress warmly: Turin evenings often drop below 5°C.
What should I wear for an evening tour?
Comfortable shoes: every group tour is on foot and lasts 2–3 hours, mostly under the arcades but with open stretches on Piazza Castello and along the Po. From November to March you need a coat, scarf and gloves; in summer a light jacket is enough, as the air cools by the river after dark. Tours run in the rain: Turin's 18 km of arcades exist precisely for that.
