GetYourGuide in Turin: an honest review and how to use it well

On tours.torino.it GetYourGuide is the first platform we check for tours and experiences in Turin, because it carries the deepest local catalogue. This page explains how it works, what to look at in a listing before you pay, and when it makes sense to compare with Tiqets or Headout instead.

What GetYourGuide is and how it works for Turin tours

GetYourGuide is a marketplace headquartered in Berlin: it does not run tours itself, but gathers activities from local operators, who list them with their own calendar, languages and terms. The customer pays GetYourGuide and receives a voucher; the Turin operator delivers the service and is paid by the platform minus a commission.

For Turin we check it first because it has the deepest inventory in the city: Torino Magica and the other evening esoteric tours, small-group visits to the Egyptian Museum, full days in the Langhe, Venaria with the Sacra di San Michele, e-bike rides along the Po, chocolate and vermouth, transport to the Ligurian beaches and Caselle airport transfers.

How to read a listing: reviews, cancellation, voucher

Before the price we look at three things. The number of reviews matters more than the average: a 4.6 from over a thousand (Torino Magica) is worth more than a 4.8 from twenty. The calendar by language: many Turin tours run daily in Italian and English but only a few days a week in French or Spanish. The actual supplier, named at the bottom of the listing: that is the name you will find at the meeting point.

"Skip the line" at the Egyptian Museum means timed entry with a shorter queue, not the absence of security checks. Free cancellation is usually up to 24 hours before, but check it per product: transfers and private tastings may differ. The voucher arrives by email and in the app, works on a phone and shows the meeting point on a map. "Reserve now, pay later" holds the spot without an immediate charge: useful for the Langhe in autumn, when dates sell out weeks ahead.

The weaknesses of GetYourGuide in Turin

The catalogue is not a quality filter. Some products are resold by agencies that merge customers from several platforms into one group, so the same walking tour appears under three titles and three prices. On cheap products the review average inflates because people rate the museum, not the service. For single tickets to the Egyptian Museum or the Royal Museums the price can exceed the official ticket office by a few euros: we say so when it happens and point to our operators page for anyone who prefers to book direct.

  • For the Torino+Piemonte Card use Tiqets: GetYourGuide does not sell it.
  • For Egyptian Museum + Royal Palace combos also check Headout, which sometimes has different dates or prices.

How our links work (and why we are not GetYourGuide)

tours.torino.it is an independent guide, not a GetYourGuide site and not an operator. Booking buttons lead directly to getyourguide.com with our partner code, sponsored and nofollow attributes and the campaign tourstorino: if you book we receive a commission from the platform, while the price you pay is identical to getyourguide.com. The commission does not decide the order of products. Prices are observed on the partner catalogue and checked regularly; the amount at checkout prevails. For bookings or refunds contact GetYourGuide from the app; for editorial matters, info@tours.torino.it.

FAQ

Is GetYourGuide legit for booking in Turin?

Yes, with one clarification: GetYourGuide is a marketplace, not the operator. Payment and the voucher go through the Berlin-based platform, but the tour is delivered by a local supplier (Somewhere Tours for Torino Magica, for instance). The platform holds your payment until the activity date and handles refunds, so the financial risk is low. The quality of the individual experience depends on the operator, which is why we always read the recent reviews and the supplier name at the bottom of the listing.

How does free cancellation work on GetYourGuide?

Most Turin products show "free cancellation up to 24 hours before": cancel from the app or your account before that cut-off and you get a full refund to the original payment method, usually within a few working days. Some activities (private Langhe tastings, driver transfers, fixed-date tickets) have longer windows or are non-refundable. The exact term is printed under the price on each listing: check it per product, there is no single rule.

Are GetYourGuide prices different from booking direct?

Often identical, sometimes €3–8* higher. For guided tours (Torino Magica, e-bike, food tours) the price is normally the same as the operator's own site, because the commission is paid by the supplier. For plain museum tickets the price may include a booking service: the Egyptian Museum sold by an agency can cost more than the official ticket office. Our pages say so when the direct channel is cheaper; the price that counts is always the one at checkout.

Do I need to print the voucher?

No. After booking you receive a voucher by email and in the GetYourGuide app, with a QR code, start time, meeting point and the operator's contact details. Every Turin activity we follow accepts the voucher on a phone. The meeting point is shown on a map inside the listing: for centre tours it is often Piazza Castello or Piazza Carlo Alberto, for the Egyptian Museum the entrance at Via Accademia delle Scienze 6.

What if the tour is cancelled or the guide does not show up?

GetYourGuide customer service answers in English and Italian by chat and phone, seven days a week. If the operator cancels (bad weather for e-bike tours, minimum group not reached for the Langhe) the refund is automatic or you are offered another date. If nobody turns up, open a claim from the app within a few days stating the time and place: in our experience the refund is granted, but you need to document that you waited.
